Financial Checkup: JP Morgan Loses 2 Billion

Yesterday, it was officially announced that JP Morgan had lost 2 billion dollars in one quarter on a bad and risky bet. CEO Jamie Dimon admitted that the bank had “egg on its face” but also insisted that even had the Volcker Rule been in place, this particular bet, would have still been allowed. Congressman Connie Mack (R- FL 14) questioned Obama financial regulator Professor Elizabeth Warren at the Oversight and Government Reform hearing entitled “Consumer Financial Protection Efforts: Answers Needed.” Congressman Mack asked Ms. Warren about her role in the development of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which she has been tasked as the head of, specifically in regards to mortgage settlements, and the steps being taken leading up to the launch of the Bureau.
